Some are aware that Brother Russell died at a very young age. But few know what took his life. If I told you it was something so simple a pill could cure it, it might surprise you. Charles T. Russell died on October 31, 1916, he was only 64 years old. I turn 57 later in May. He had the illness for 36 years, meaning more than half of his life. It caused him severe pain, trust me when I tell you what it was if you have had this illness you will understand the pain. But now he had it for 36 years, so it was literally eating his insides. It also was difficult for him to control his body temperature thus long overcoat. Brother Russell did not wear that long wool overcoat as a status symbol or for others to adopt after he died. He wore it to keep warm, even in summer. Consider today, we get a headache, feel tired, we Zoom the meeting. Brother Russell had an illness that would cause most of us to double over and throw up, yet he died on a train giving public sermons. So, are you now invested to know what brother Russell died of? Today we call it a UTI, or urinary tract infection. Remember Brother Russell died in 1916, it was not until 1928 that antibiotics were invented or discovered. Twelve years after his death. Consider would I do what he did for 36 years living with that kind of pain? And interesting side point to his medical condition that he lived with for 36 years.
